Area Overview

Fulham is an area located within the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. It is situated on the north bank of the Thames, between Putney and Chelsea.

Fulham is a historic area with roots dating back to the 7th century. During the 18th century, the area had a reputation for debauchery, becoming a “playboy retreat” for the wealthy of London. Today, mainly thanks to its close proximity to Chelsea and the City, Fulham is a popular place to live with some excellent leisure facilities and attractions.

Fulham has a great location close to the famous retail and cultural centres of Sloane Square and Knightsbridge, and is popular with young professionals and families alike. Fulham itself has excellent shopping facilities and includes a mix of independent fashion boutiques, high-end high street and designer brands, and luxury furniture and interior stores. Emma Bridgwater’s pottery shop on Fulham High Street is worth a visit. There is also Fulham Broadway Shopping Centre, which is full of high street names as well as a cinema and health club, and several farmers’ markets are held weekly in the area.

“Home to two football clubs, Fulham and Chelsea”

Restaurants, cafes, gastro pubs, and delicatessens are plentiful, making Fulham a great place for foodies! Spice of India on the River is a contemporary Indian restaurant where you can dine while taking in spectacular views across the water to the City. The Waterside, also occupying a great spot on the river bank, offers a fantastic seasonal British menu with a Mediterranean influence.

There is plenty of green space at Fulham, including Fulham Palace grounds and Eel Park Common. Hurlingham Park and South Park both have various sports facilities used by local clubs. The area is also home to two major football teams, Fulham, and local rivals Chelsea– who play at Stamford Bridge just behind Fulham’s Broadway.
