Area Overview

Thames Ditton is a village located in Surrey, almost bordering Greater London. It is situated on the southern bank of the River Thames between the towns of Surbiton, Esher and East Molesey.

Thames Ditton is a pretty area with a green, cobbled streets and a historic market place. Shops are centred around the High Street and comprise a mixture of high street stores and independent shops. Winter’s Bridge on Portsmouth Road has some smaller shops, including a chocolatier. The town has a variety of cafes, bars and shops, as well as a few art galleries and wine merchants. The area has a bustling delicatessen and cafe culture, with places like The Ditton Deli offering a relaxed eat-in atmosphere and a fantastic courtyard to the back with views over The Rythe. They offer a full deli counter with cold meats, cheese, olives and antipasti, as well as a gourmet takeaway meal service.

“Its High Street is a conservation area offering residential and commercial in equal proportion.”

Nightlife is low key, and centres around traditional pubs and good restaurants. Many of the best can be found on the waterside, including The Albany, a stylish bar and restaurant that sits on the water’s edge. Ye Olde Swan Restaurant, also located on the riverbank, offers up fish and chips with a glass of Pimms on its beautiful terrace.
