Area overview

Chelsea is a fashionable district of Central London located along the River Thames within the London Boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea, and Hammersmith and Fulham. Synonymous with sophisticated style and elegance, it is little wonder that Chelsea is one of the most desirable places to live. On the river on Cheyne Walk alone, past residents have included JMW Turner, George Eliot, Laurence Olivier, Sylvia Pankhurst, Vaughan Williams and Mick Jagger to name a few.

Chelsea is a retail hotspot, and shoppers flood to the world-famous King’s Road and Sloane Square –  where international designer names such as Armani and Jimmy Choo are found next to Michelin-starred restaurants and smart pubs and clubs. Running parallel to the King’s Road is Fulham Road, which is home to exquisite antique and specialist interior furnishing stores.

“…once had a reputation as London's bohemian quarter”

Foodies are spoilt for choice in Chelsea, with gourmet fare served up across its many restaurants, gastro pubs, cafes and delicatessens. Luigi’s Delicatessen on Fulham Road sells delicious freshly made pasta and luxury food items imported from Italy. Cafe Montpeliano on the King’s Road is a great place to relax and people-watch while you sample one of their traditional coffees.

Chelsea nightlife is plentiful, lively and varied. For a more laid-back atmosphere, head to the Chelsea Harbour area, where the Chelsea Riverside Brasserie serves up classic brasserie dishes with a contemporary British twist. A short stroll up the river takes you to The Waterside, a friendly waterside pub with beautiful views across the river.
