Brentford Dock, Brentford TW8

Brentford Dock, Brentford TW8

For over 100 years, Brentford Dock was an important part of the national transport infrastructure, having been created to link the Great Western Railway and the canal system with the Port of London and thereby the rest of the world.  However in 1964, the shipping enterprise was closed down, and the new Brentford Dock development was constructed between 1972 and 1978 for the Greater London Council (GLC).  Originally intended to be used as social housing, only 90 of the first flats to be completed were let, with the remaining 500 flats offered for private sale on completion.

Today, Brentford Dock has a warm, community feel.  With a board of directors made up entirely of elected residents of the estate, Brentford Dock Ltd genuinely operates for the residents, by the residents.

There are a total of 592 units on the estate, comprising a blend of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom apartments and maisonettes, and a terrace of four 3-bedroom townhouses. Each block is named after a Roman Emperor.

"An area rich in nature history and community"

Brentford High Street with its ongoing regeneration program offers an array of shops, restaurants, Everyman Cinema and facilities within walking distance, with the wider shopping districts of Chiswick and Richmond a short drive away.

Brentford (National Rail) is the closest station and the motorist will find easy access onto the A4/M4 and A3/M3.
